Any class with David is worth the world. It will change your life. I know from experience. I went from frozen shoulder to 4-5 unassisted pull-ups, and from literally unable to run to winning my age group in my second 5k. This guy can do it all and is the most focused, supportive, yet challenging teacher/trainer Ive had. The “Strength in Length” class taught me form, function, mental and physical strength. The best part is how much I learned about my body and how much confidence it gave me to carry throughout the day. Gift yourself a few weeks with this guy, seriously.
David brings so much diversity to every class which allows our bodies to be challenged in new and unique ways. As a yoga teacher myself, I gain so much understanding about strength, mobility and flexibility. I have been taking David's “Strength in Length” class for about a year and I definitely feel the changes in my body. I became not only a better teacher but a stronger person physically and mentally.
David has an innate teaching ability. His kindness, knowledge and communication allows for even the most beginner students to feel at ease. Through his playful spirit you are sure to have a wonderful time while also growing and deepening your practice!
I have known David Stickler for several years as my exercise trainer and friend. My personal goal is to improve fitness and endurance so I can continue to enjoy the outdoor pursuits I love. David offered so much more than exercise instruction, he wants all his clients to improve, no material what their age or condition.
David helped me when I was injured, suggesting modifications, all the while encouraging me to keep going. His enthusiasm was a big part of why I keep coming to classes and doing the work. As I prepared for the biggest physical challenge of my life, hiking the John Muir Trail, he worked with me to train both physically and mentally. My wife and I completed all 220 miles of the trail the summer of 2016, due in large part to David’s help. I couldn’t have done it without his help!
One of the aspects of David’s style I like the most is the noncompetitive approach in a group setting. Unlike the traditional CrossFit atmosphere (who’s first, who’s fastest, who can lift the most) David focuses on individual improvement. Every class included balance and fine motor work combined with strength and cardio work. Perfect for a 62-year-old still needing to ski, hike and bike while avoiding injuries. When I injured my shoulder, he was constantly aware of my recovery and the of details of the injury. My shoulders are stronger now than ever, and I learned how to keep them strong and avoid re-injury.
I am lucky to have had David as my trainer and friend. We all need someone who can help us improve and achieve our goals while have fun and challenging us at the same time. David is that kind of person.
David is a highly talented teacher and human. With keen awareness, he understands the intricate movements and natural tendencies of each individual body. Under his guidance, I have learned how to communicate with areas of my body that had previously been dormant. I have gained deep strength; strength in my physical form and mental state. Strength that has pushed me to explore areas in myself that had previously been limits. Strength that has not limited my yoga practice, but instead, enhanced it as Ive discovered how to activate muscles in the deepest range of each pose. My handstand journey has also accelerated thanks to David’s skillful and artful guidance. I would highly recommend David’s classes and wisdom to anyone who is interested in exploring their potential and pushing past their limits.
When I met David at Union Yoga I felt the energy of a kindred spirit. When language could have been a barrier we were able to communicate via yoga and the soul. As a yoga teacher his energy is pure and beautiful. I am proud that he is my first yoga teacher.
